Michael Kinsley

Michael Kinsley isn't the same reliably interesting and articulate liberal critic that he used to be. All those years on Crossfire, and the whole fiasco with the LA Times, have seemingly embittered him, dulling his once rapier wit and keen insight.

Once in a while, however, he still manages to hit one out of the park. His most recent article on Slate (War and Embryos) about the hypocrisy of opposing stem cell research when we're waging wars that kill thousands in collateral damage is a perfect example.

Kinsley is absolutely right -- you can't be Gandhi and Truman at the same time.
